Service change from 24th to Daly City Station 8/2-3

We will be closing two platforms at Daly City Station for the weekend of August 2 and 3, 2014 to perform a variety of important maintenance and improvement activities. In order to complete this work we can only use one track between Balboa Park and Colma stations.

The work will include replacing platform edge tiles that have loosened and are creating a tripping hazard, performing preventative maintenance on a variety of systems including elevators and escalators, addressing issues with the tracks and trackside areas, and doing maintenance work on public areas like stairwells. There will be an unprecedented number of work crews coordinating operations throughout the weekend.

This is a new procedure we are trying as there is a much higher volume of work that needs to be done on all our aging systems to keep them in good operating order. Previously, we would work on just one or two systems at the most which could result in many delays and closures over a period of weeks or months. That may still be the best and safest way to handle some future repairs. But, we are determined, whenever possible, to cause the fewest disruptions to our service by grouping work together as we will be doing at Daly City Station this weekend.

Our crews are working hard to build a better and more reliable BART to provide you with a high level of service for years to come.

To keep delays to a minimum this weekend, we will only operate one service between 24th Street Station and Daly City Station. Yellow Line--Pittsburg/Bay Point and SFO/Millbrae trains--will operate on their regular Saturday/Sunday schedule with minor delays.

On Saturday Blue and Green Line--Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont trains--that normally go to Daly City Station will stop at 24th Street Station. On Sunday Blue Line Dublin/Pleasanton trains will stop at 24th Street Station.

Service between Daly City and 24th Street will be provided by one (1) train every 20 minutes instead of three (3) on Saturday and two (2) on Sunday.

Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont line passengers travelling to and from Glen Park, Balboa Park and Daly City will need to transfer to the Pittsburg/Bay Point line trains at 24th Street Station.

We appreciate your patience.
